When I was a child we watched the show Cheers. Even before I was of legal age I wanted to go to a place “where everyone knew your name.” I didn’t realize at the time that most had drinking problems but we all know a Norm so who am I to judge?
Guu’s on Main in Stevens Point is my place to go. It’s now a favorite of my husband, son and my beautiful friend Teri. I swear she drives from Arkansas to go to Guus not see me.
Pre markers rising status, I would indulge in burgers, fried food, and amazing fries. Today it’s salad. The food is amazing but I truly come for the locale, the employees and the people watching. This place feels like home to a recovering fried food wino.
Today I worked out of Point due to the -50F windchill. My first thought was Guu’s. And as I sit here eating my leafy greens, it’s amazing how warm a place can make you feel when it’s cold AF outside.
