Today I had lunch with our dear friends Beth and Tony. Of course they came bearing salsa and incredible jams. We no longer buy either at the store. They are our “suppliers”! Today they also brought many ears of corn. I didn’t get a chance to count as Evan dove into them before I had a chance to boil and grill them. As I was making dinner I found myself staring at the ears of corn and thinking of all the cheesy things you can say. Yes it truly is that odd and strange in my noggin. Most of my cheesy sayings had something to do with hearing and ears and it got me thinking to my earlier conversation with Beth and Tony on my music choices. So it got me thinking of writing a post on my top ten music choices as of today. (My brain is a wonderful roller coaster….squirrel!) Let’s break from the norm of crappy cancer, healthy food choices and other random thoughts and focus on music. So without further ado here are my top ten favorite songs as of today…
10.) Holocene by Bon Iver
It’s hauntingly beautiful and for some reason brings me to tears.
9.) Soon You’ll Get Better by Taylor Swift
For obvious reasons this touches my heart. So many of the verses I relate to.
8.) Man in the Mirror by Michael Jackson
Well it’s MJ so there’s that. But honestly every time I sing this song I get choked up.
7.) Even If by Mercy Me
Evan just loves them and I do to. This song renews my faith in just about every moment of my day.
6.) Joanne by Lady Gaga
So this is actually a song I have morbidly picked for my funeral. I adore Gaga and her raw honesty.
5.) Perfect Symphony by Ed Sheeran and Andrea Bocelli
Simply beautiful.
4.) Nights Like These by Lucero
The rawness of the lyrics and Ben’s vocals get me every time.
3.) Love of My Life by Queen
Another song that brings me to tears. Freddie just gets love.
2.) Rebel Heart by Lauren Daigle
Between the lyrics and her voice it’s perfection.
1.) Black or White by Michael Jackson
Ok yes it’s MJ again but the guy makes me so happy. I could listen to him and do every. single. day.
I could make a list of over a thousands songs that I live each day with. From the moment I wake up until I get home I’m singing or listening to music. Rap. Opera. Pop (which I just discovered is short for popular!), Country, Gospel…you name it and I can find at least one song I love.
Music helps me in my most darkest days and it makes my brightest days seem like a musical. To quote Mercy Me’s song Grace Got You…
“Have you ever met those who
Keep humming when the song’s through?
It’s like, They’re living life to a whole different tune“
Find the music in your world and share with those you love. They are “all ears” listening to what makes your heart sing….
