On my way towards dropping off my great nephew after a week long visit the song “Easy Silence” came on. Easy silence…what this world is so desperately craving. What our nation so desperately needs. What we all regardless of race, religion, creed, sexuality need. Silence.
I’ve struggled like so many to put into words how I’m feeling about our nation, our lives, and ourselves. And I still don’t have them. I don’t have a solution. I just have raw emotions.
I believe not all are evil. I believe in goodness. I believe not all are racist. I believe in equality for all. I believe not all voices are spoken in anger. I believe all voices deserve to be heard. I believe we all will make mistakes in our lives. I believe in forgiveness. I believe in love.
I refuse to judge a group of individuals based on the actions one only to justify these same actions of another group simply to promote my agenda or the agenda of the powers that be. This is called hypocrisy. I refuse to hate when I could love.
Nothing I write is going to make a damn bit of difference or change minds. But my question to all of you is why choose hate when you could choose love?
Racism is a disease as is the mob mentality. You are drowning out their voices with this violence. You are drowning the voices of those that need to be heard, the very ones you say you are speaking for….they have voices. Let them speak.
Easy silence. We’ve been taught this in school. Let those that deserve to be heard speak. They are raising a hand and have been called on. The rest of you sit down, listen, learn and please just stop this madness you are creating.
As the wise MJ said “Take a look at yourself and make a change.”
