A few months ago, chris and I were thinking of a project we could do together. Because, you know two full time jobs, homeschooling and battling a deadly disease isn’t enough for us! The Ryes are a busy bunch and Chris can’t cram enough in his day. The man isn’t happy unless he’s creating. Which is why I sent him an idea to build me a sauna….that’s on the shelf for now because we are starting a candle business!

One of the most relaxing parts of my day is coming home to having candles burning and the family sitting around the fire. It comforts me and the scents help me unwind. So when Chris suggested this idea I was on board. We are as different as two people get with this kind of stuff. He’s very precise and I’m caution to the wind. The best part is Evan gets to be a part of this too. A family affair.

We are still in the infant stages of the process. Testing out smells of potions as I call them, testing out wicks and jars and wax…the list goes on. We are making lists of different names and I’ve even engaged our friend Gwen in that good time. Some of hers are a bit R rated so we might have to have an adults only line! Regardless this has already been fun.

Last night when I got home, Chris immediately showed me everything he purchased. He’s very lucky that all he has to say is what do you think and I reply with buy it. Anyway, he had us make our first candle together. Never mind the 20 he made prior to my arrival…what a great experience to once again be creating something with him.
